YouTube Music Expands, Available in Canada, UK, and More!

YouTube is expanding its YouTube Music streaming services into 12 more countries and offering more music content to subscribers. As YouTube Music expands, this will lead to more opportunities for musicians on the platform.

Youtube Music expands to more countries

The site announced the expansion on Monday in an official blog post. The 12 new countries where YouTube Music has expanded into include:

  • Austria
  • Canada
  • Finland
  • France
  • Germany
  • Ireland
  • Italy
  • Norway
  • Russia
  • Spain
  • Sweden
  • United Kingdom

The service has been rolled out simultaneously in all of the above nations. It was initially available in the United States, Australia, Mexico, New Zealand, and South Korea on an invitation-only basis. YouTube announced that registration is now also open to all users from these regions.

Opening this service up even further is a wise move. Four out of the five most popular videos on YouTube are music videos!

Better recommendations

Introduced in May, YouTube Music is the site’s new streaming service that offers greater access to its music content catalog, including:

  • Official music videos
  • Official albums and singles
  • Live performances and covers
  • Custom playlists

The service features a dynamic home screen that shows recommendations for these categories based on the songs and artists you have listened to.

It also has a Smart Search feature that will help you find specific songs easily. You can type in lyrics or descriptions and YouTube Music will return the closest match to your queries.

You can register for a free ad-supported version of the service by downloading the YouTube Music app from the Google Play Store. YouTube is also offering a premium subscription where you can get more features and on-the-go downloads. The plan costs $9.99 per month for a single user and $14.99 per month for a Family plan. The site is also giving the first three months free for a limited time only.

YouTube Music has more premium services

Aside from YouTube Music, the site also announced the expansion of its larger YouTube Premium (formerly YouTube Red) service. It will now be available in 17 locations, including the ones above.

Besides YouTube Music, you also get access to all YouTube Originals shows, including Cobra Kai, Impulse, and The Sidemen Show. Plans start at $11.99 per month.

As YouTube Music expands, listeners are not the only ones who are getting more. If you are a musician, this is a great opportunity to attract more people to your music.
